Marine Geology
Professor Emeritus
Education:
  • B.A., Middlebury College, 1975
  • M.A., M. Phil., Ph.D, Columbia University, 1975-1980
Research Interests:

Evolution of Carbonate Platforms at Passive Continental Margins:

  • especially erosional processes causing retreat of the original Mesozoic platform edge and diagenesis of original shallow-platform facies in deep-marine water fluxing into the platform from the eroded margins

Paleoceanography of the Pleistocene:

  • specifically the relationship between Antarctic Bottom Water production rates & glacial-interglacial fluctuations

Continental Shelf Sedimentation Processes:

  • specifically the interaction of tidal & storm energy with bathymetric features of the Georgia coast & redistribution of relict/palimpsest sediments shoreward.
Selected Publications:

Peer-Reviewed Journals and Volumes
